MBT CommUNITY: A Gathering for Magic, Blessings and Transformation

The Power of Words

Every word, whether heard, read or repeated offers a specific meaning and connotation that we infuse in our life. Thus far, in the journey of our Magic, Blessings and Transformation path at Unity Minneapolis, there have been many words exchanged in the intention for growth, support and togetherness. Ask yourself: what words are surrounding me? What loving words will support me in my life to grow abundantly, to grow strong, and to carry my life’s desires further?

Since the initial launch MBT in September, we have moved through two month (four gatherings) of practice. We have connected holistic practices with Unity principals to co-create a space of wonderment, to enable dreams–for both individuals and on a collective level–to imagine greater potential. In service of that greater potential we devised an order (September’s 12 Power), worked with the zeal (October’s 12 Power) of the group, and now are preparing to activate a release (November’s 12 Power) of what does not serve our individual and collective potential.

At the same time, we have been working with the ascension of the chakra energy centers as we progress through the themes this fall. Our themes have been:

  1. Unified Will: an alignment of our chakras
  2. Rooted: shamanic drumming and ritual
  3. Sacred Silence: accessing creativity through meditation
  4. Inner Power: grounding and mindfulness to presence power within yourself.

If you wish to continue a simple, affirmative practice, the images below can be useful tools, and a system of thought that we envision when creating MBT’s flow.

Each gathering event has been an unfolding of magical potential–synchronistic meetings, creative connections, and fostering a sense of belonging and equanimity. Facilitating, we have chosen guiding words intentionally to create a space of openness, wholeheartedness and also…imperfection. It has been in those playful, oops moments of laughter and relaxation that I believe everyone finds themselves more at ease to be authentic. That reflects on the beauty of how we can embrace our whole selves–working intentionally with positive thought and action, and also allowing the vulnerability of freedom.

Words such as vulnerability, wholeheartedness, imperfection, carry such powerful meanings. I have been moving through my days of teaching and creating with Brene Brown’s reflections on words embedded in my memory. In her book: The Gifts of Imperfection (Unity’s current book of study), Brene writes:

(p.12/13) The root of the word courage  is cor-the latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage had a very different definition than it does today. Courage originally meant “to speak one’s mind by telling one’s heart.” Over time, this definition has changed, and today courage is more synonymous with being heroic. Heroics is important and we certainly need heroes, but I think we’ve lost touch with the idea that speaking honestly and openly about who we are, about what we’re feeling, and about our experiences (good and bad)is the definition of courage. Heroics is often about putting our lives on the line. Ordinary courage is about putting our vulnerability on the line. In today’s world that’s pretty extraordinary.

What I found extraordinary was in Uniteens this Sunday, before I read this quote, I asked the middle school students who they felt demonstrated courage. Many of them shared their parents–and then said because they work hard and never give up. It is encouraging to see our youth recognizing that everyday courage of authentically being oneself truly makes an impact in the world.

Children are more likely to speak from one’s heart, and to move courageously into the future by being in the present moment. This week at MBT we will continue to presence the power we hold within, and the choice we truly have in designing our future.  As we move into the heart space, we also release what does not serve. As we let go of limitations, we become more open to be the artists/authors of our own lives. We hope you join us for some words of encouragement, and open-hearted practice.
