Unity & World Religions
The principles taught in the Unity spiritual community are ancient ideas that run like a thread through most of the world’s religions.
In this class we will use Rev Paul John Roach’s book to take the five universal principles taught in Unity and look at how they are expressed in other faith traditions – Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity, and more – with extensive quotes from the luminaries of each religions.
In each session, we will use the following five prompts to experience the relationship:
Reflect: contemplate the core of our spiritual understanding
Refine: examine who the ;teachings have deepened, changed, or reinforced our understanding of Truth.
Connect: bring our awareness of the teachings to the golden thread that connects the particular religion and the interconnectedness of creation and the creative process.
Affirm: decide what is true for each of us and clearly affirm and declare it.
Act: explore ways to put what we know into practice.
During the seven weeks, we will schedule time to visit sacred sites for each religion.
