The Gift of Presence: an interactive workshop to practice the power of taking a pause

Friday December 2 | 7PM – 8:30PM CT | Fillmore Room

The holidays are when we become especially busy. Let’s take a moment to be present in mind-body-spirit. We will experience mindfulness practices, hear selections of prose and poetry from The Power of the Pause, and reflect on the way meditation can help us calm and center so we can be more fully present for ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and our world. Wendy Brown-Báez will read an excerpt from her essay “Lifelines” on the meditation practice she relies on when things are difficult, messy, and in the midst of change, included in the anthology The Power of the Pause: The Wonder of Our Here & Now, from Wising Up Press. The fifty-two talented writers in this collection explore the hidden gifts of pause, voluntary and involuntary, and how it may help us recalibrate, restore, find new and richer ways of being with ourselves and others. Bring a notebook and a yearning to take a moment for yourself. Books will be available for purchase.
