Christmas Eve Candlelight Services — 12/24/19

Services Times: 5 PM | 9 PM

We’re introducing new service times in 2019!

5 PM: This service is truly family-friendly. We will tell the Christmas story and light candles that represent the characters of the story. We’ll ask each person to think about the characters in the story and to pretend that what is happening in the story is happening to you. The truth is that this is your story, and these characters are part of us. We will talk about the angel, the donkey, the ox, the dove and, of course, Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. Our Youth of Unity will assist in lighting a candle for each character. The music will be presented by our music team, the Unity MPLS Quartet and, of course, the fabulous Lori Dokken. We will end this family-friendly service with our traditional candle lighting.

9 PM: Called “The Seven Gifts of the Christ Child,” we share the seven gifts of the Christ Child that are also in each and every one of us. We honor the gift, light the candle and affirm the gift for ourselves. The choir, along with Judi Vinar, Lori Dokken and our music team provide the special music. We will also enjoy a traditional candle lighting service. You can expect wonderful music such as “O Holy Night,” “The First Noel” and other Christmas favorites. Of course, we conclude with “Silent Night.” All ages are welcome.

Speakers: Rev. Pat Williamson, Rev. Jeanette Byington, Jim Ernstsen and Lisa Herklotz
