In her two-week workshop at Unity Minneapolis (Embracing the Goddess within You), Mary Welch creates a safe space for women to find and connect with their inner goddess. We talked to Mary to ask her what women can expect from participating in her workshop.
Tell us about your workshop—what kind of activities will women be doing to “explore what it means to be a goddess” today?
The workshop is a sharing of wisdom within a sacred circle. The Circle is called in a formal way and then each woman is invited to participate. This workshop is experiential … all six senses are engaged in the Music, Movement, and Musings. There are meditations and rituals, as well as simple activities that are participatory and fun!
How do you define a goddess?
A goddess today in the 21st century is a woman who embraces the wisdom of Nature, her Body, her Creativity, her Unconscious, and the Community of Women. ALL these elements are woven into the fabric of the complete workshop. It is focused on the NOW happenings and not the past.
Have you done this workshop before? If so, what sort of feedback have you gotten from women who have participated?
Yes, dozens of times! The first one was in 2003. The feedback has always been full of praise! The expectations were high and have always been met. Words from various participants have included: “a deeper appreciation for my Self,” “a new perspective on what it means to be divine … truly a miracle,” “fun!,” “life-enriching,” “life-changing insights,” “every woman needs to experience this!”
What will women gain from the two-week workshop?
A deeper appreciation for being a woman. New soul sisters. A new perspective on the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine Energy within each person. An honoring of their personal life journey. Feeling of being inspired to take their next step to fulfill their dreams.
What’s your background? What led you to lead a workshop like this?
I am a ToP Facilitator trained by the Institute of Cultural Affairs. I am a Life Coach trained by the Coaches Training Institute. I have a degree in Transformational Leadership. I have been on a conscious spiritual journey for more than 40 years. I was lead to do these workshops almost 20 years ago after realizing my skills and training were meant to create experiences for women that would empower them to honor their own journeys so they could embrace and fulfill their unique purpose in life.
Anything else you’d like to add?
It is strongly encouraged to be committed to both evenings. To be a part of Calling the Circle and Closing the Circle is a soul-touching experience. Participating in the full event creates a sense of unity and camaraderie and most importantly, a safe circle in which authentic sharing can occur.
